Problem:

In conversations with a customer that manufactures Hemmers and Tab Benders for the automotive industry, we found their process involved using hydraulic units. The customer was interested in finding a way to save money and run more efficiently, and were open to solutions from the territory salesman.

Solution:

Our first item of business was to eliminate the use of hydraulics by using a HyperCyl air/oil intensification cylinder. We showed the customer a HyperCyl Unit, quoting the cylinder system optimized for their application with the following: Special Retract Force, Locking Rod, and the ability for them to Jog the Cylinder. These customer requirements were met with a special order Hypercyl Unit that would meet their cycle time and cost requirements while functioning virtually maintenance free. See the chart below for the advantages of using air over hydraulics.

HyperCyl Unit vs.

Hydraulic Unit:

HyperCyl
Intensifier Cylinder

Low to moderate investment

Medium to High Investment

Low Operating Cost - shop air

High cost motors, coolers, pumps, and electrical.

Minimal Maintenance

High Maintenance (routine oil and filter changes)

Self-contained, quiet, clean

Large floor space, noisy, leaky, multiple components
