A manufacturer of automation equipment was in need of an application solution for manipulating various die cast parts weighing up to 20 lbs. The process subjected the parts to water and die lube spray, as well as ambient temperatures of 400 degrees fahrenheit with part holding times of up to 30 seconds.

MRM's salesman for the particular territory proposed the following: Utilize Schunk's new PSH 2-jaw Parallel Gripper, a totally-sealed design that is virtually impervious to the harsh combination of water mixed with die lube. In addition, we made internal modifications to wishstand the temperature conditions. We were also able to extend the warranty to meet the customer's needs. Everything was designed and ordered within the customer's time frame - no eight week or more delivery due to engineering mods or custom orders was required.
