Customer was looking for a solution for a seat loading fixture. The tool required a frame with gantry-style positioners, working in a multi-axis plane. The loads were as high as 350 lbs, hanging down as much as 24" in the Z direction (vertical). The speeds of the application were very aggressive.

MRM designed a complete gantry system, including the frame and positioning devices. We engineered the support assemblies from steel, attaching the linear devices in attitudes that created the least amount of deflection. The Tolomatic heavy duty actuators were applied using kevlar belts and dual bearing systems. These pre-engineered slides were matched for the application requirements, in speed, thrust and moment loading capabilities. The system included complete Tolomatics controls, from brushless servo drives to the standard Tolomatic cables and switches. The gantry frame was able to meet the customer requirements, from multiple pickups and placements to multiple part configurations.
